Hi Sports Gang, and welcome to the 2014 NFL, Thursday Night Football.  I hope you'll tune in to your CBS station for the battle of the NFC South Rivals, as the explosive Atlanta Falcons offense and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers clash in what we hope is an exciting game!
The Buccaneers are still working toward scoring their first win of the season...
...but who's keeping score?

Anyway, stop by later for the final report and results.  Hope to see you then!

*** Game Highlights
So...football fans, what did you think of that display of sports talent?  Atlanta got a good feel for the football early on, scoring three touchdowns just within the first quarter of the game.  And, POW!  Another touchdown for the Falcons early in the 2nd quarter, with Devin Hester breaking Deion Sanders' record of 19 total returns with a 62 yard run, making it 20 total returns!  And, guess who was at the game to witness this success!  Well, Deion Sanders himself!
Subsequently, that left the half-time score of 35-0 as the largest half-time lead in Falcon franchise history.

Well, it's almost as if the Buccaneers were just along for the ride, until, finally, in the 4th quarter, Tampa Bay joined the game, scoring two touchdowns.  This gave them the leg to stand on and hopes for better performance in future games.

YES!!! GAME FIVE IS A CHARM!!!

I know, it's been a few days since the game, but I spent the weekend with my son-no time to write!  So, game 5 on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 sends the Mavericks into orbit early on, with a couple of free throws scored by Dirk Nowitzki and a 1st quarter end score of 6-2.   It is said that the Mavs free-throw percentage is 79.85% , pretty much the best in the league.
J.J. Barea

J.J. Barea, point guard for the Dallas Mavericks was having "a whale" of a game.  He was the 2nd leading scorer with 22 points!  He barreled in and out 'using his body as a shield' for the ball. What a champ J.J.!!!

We were down by 6 points, 92-87 (there's that "we" again!) in the 4th quarter, with only 4:19 minutes to go. Dirk lands a free throw point and WHOA, at 1:14 minutes left to go, Dirk, then makes the first 3-pointer in the 4th quarter-BLAM!  With 45 SECONDS left in the 4th, Shawn Marion comes down, gets fowled, (Yay!) which gets him a free throw shot/point.  Now, we're (I mean the Mavs) ahead 98-94!  OMG!!!  Somehow, I just can't remember how, the OKC manages to score 2 more points in there...BUT!  In a frantic comeback, with only 13.3 seconds left in this game, Dirk gets fowled (OH DARN!) and brings the last 2 and winning shots to this great game to close with 100 Dallas and 96 OKC.

We are now the Western Conference Champs!
The Western Conference trophy was presented by Rick Barry, named as one of the 50 greatest players in history by the NBA, to Mavs owner, Mark Cuban, who, as you can see passed it to Dirk Nowitzki, and passed to other team players.
***
Special admiration and respect went out to Dirk Nowitzki-"He is a dangerous shark on land and has raised the game to another level!", said Rick Barry.
***
Dallas Mavericks owner Cuban ended on this note.
"All I can tell everybody is -WE AIN'T DONE YET!"

Now, to game one of the NBA finals-Mavs against the Miami Heat
I'll see you there on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 @ 9:00 pm EST!

Whew!!! Sports Fans!!!  What a nite! Last nite there were storms EVERYWHERE!  All the way from west Texas, up our Fort Worth way, thru Dallas, TX, and on to Oklahoma and Kansas.  Our hearts go out to those who lost homes and loved ones during these storms.  I wasn't able to get on here-mom thought we should shut down during the hail and tornado warnings, and I agree.  Pretty high winds, and we got some hail, but made it thru with minimal damage.

As for Monday nite's game...the Mavs came back in the 4th quarter from 15 points down against the OKC Thunder.  We now lead the Western Conference playoffs 3-1 (notice I say "WE")!  I mean, they said that fans were waiting at DFW airport at 1:00am later that nite for the Dallas Mavericks return to Dallas.

"WHOA!!!  TOO MUCH INFORMATION!"
But Hey!  It's all about teamwork!

2 Dallas Fans

Dirk Nowitzki scored 40 points in this game.  The Mavs pushed the Thunder into overtime to win the game at 112-105.  During an interview after the game Dirk said of the OKC Thunder,
"They're going to come back in game 5 Wednesday (tonite) and throw everything at us.  We've got to take it!  Nothing is going to be given to you in this league."

Kevin Durant after the defeat of Monday nite's game.

The OKC Thunder is an upstanding team, no doubt about it.  And the Dallas Mavericks know this team has taken them on their own turf, and The Thunder are confident they can do it again.    So, the Mavs better be on their game tonite!  Whoo! Whoo! Whoo! Go MAVS!!!

Hey, Sports Fans-my first post!!!  And what better to discuss than sports?  This afternoon the Dallas Mavericks swept the two-time defending Los Angeles Lakers champs, breaking a few playoff records with a total of 20, 3-point baskets in one game.  The Mavs' small forward, Jason Terry, made history by scoring 9 separate 3-point shots, which is his personal best in any game!  It tied with the history of the NBA's Franchise in a single playoff game.  This makes 'The Jet' MY MVP of this semi-final playoff series.  And, even with this bullying Lakers team, Dallas proved that they were the tougher and the best team of the NBA today.  Final Score * 122-86 *  GO MAVS!!!

The Dallas Mavericks weathered the storm and tamed the "Oklahoma Thunder" team in the 1st game of the Western Conference playoffs.  Dirk tied the record by scoring 13 free throws in a single quarter!  Man ALIVE!!!  He sets the record in the NBA with 24 consecutive free throws made and Dirk's total points in this first playoff game was 48, almost to tie his own record of 50 points.

The final score for this first game was Dallas 121 and OKC 112.  Game two will be on Thursday, also in Dallas, Texas.  And here's to Dirk and the team burning up the scoreboard once again!

Go Mavs!
